Sander Edmondson decided to become a chef after his mother issued him a challenge as
a young child. "If you don't like my cooking, learn to do it yourself." Accepting her challenge,
he began to experiment in the kitchen. As a teenager, he continued his pursuit of culinary expertise
with positions at Gallagher's, Stallion on the Roof, and L'Etoile. After graduating from Clark High School
in 1986, he realized food was his passion and decided to attend culinary school. He completed his training
at Scotsdale Culinary Institute in 1989 and returned to San Antonio. After holding executive chef
positions at the Fairmount and Gunter hotels, he purchased Bistro Time in 1999. A move
north in 2007 resulted in a slight name change and new digs, retaining the best of Bistro Time
to become Bistro Thyme.
Sander has been married to Tammy since 1991.
They have one daughter who will attend Brandeis High School when it opens.
